NOTICE OF RACE
WATKINS CUP REGATTA
September 10-11, 2011

1. Invitation
The Kentucky Lake Sailing Club cordially invites you and your crew to the Watkins Cup Regatta on September 10 & 11, 2011. The Regatta will be held on Kentucky Lake at Grand Rivers, Ky., out of Lighthouse Landing. Marina.
2. Eligibility and Entry
The Regatta will be open to one-design cruisers and racer/cruisers. Participants may enter the race by completing the entry form either early or during registration and being assigned a PHRF handicap number for their boat. Registration forms will be available at the event. Early entries can be sent to: Mark Schaberg, 4750 Exall Ln., Paducah, KY 42001.
3. Classes
Classes will be Spinnaker, JAM A and JAM B, or any one-design class with three or more entries.
4. Fees
The Regatta fee is $45.00, and will include 1 dinner and 1 T-shirt. Additional dinners will be available at $12.50 each. Additional T-shirts are $14 each. Additional T-shirts may be ordered with early registration and will be available race day if order is received by August 22, 2011. Additional shirts may also be ordered at registration, to be given, or sent later, shipping costs additional. 5. Schedule
Early registration will be 5:30 p.m. Friday, September 9, at the Lighthouse Landing deck. Late registration will be 8 a.m. Saturday, September 10. The Skippers Meeting will begin 9 a.m. Saturday, September 10, at Lighthouse Landing deck. First race will start at 10:30 a.m., or as soon as possible after the Skippers Meeting.
A Social will be held on Saturday evening, September 10, at the meeting room at Lighthouse Landing Marina. Doors will open at 6 p.m. Dinner reservations are $12.50 each and may be made by calling Mark Schaberg at 270-442-3184, or by email at mschaberg@yahoo.com.
6. Sailing instructions
Instructions will be available at registration. Instructions are also available at Kentucky Lake Sailing Club’s Web site (www.klsc.net).
7. Racing
The Regatta will consist of as many as 5 races. No race will be started in less than 3 knots of sustained wind, as determined by the Race Committee. Racing will begin at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, or as soon as possible after the Skippers Meeting. No race will be started after 3 p.m. on Saturday. On Sunday, skippers will meet on the lake for races, which will start at 9 a.m. and conclude around noon.
8. Courses
Courses will be triangular. Actual course and course length will be determined by the Race Committee based on sailing conditions on Race Day.
9. Launching, docking and hauling
Launching may be done at Lighthouse Landing Marina free of charge. A ramp is available for trailer launching. Docking and hauling may be arranged through Lighthouse Landing at 270-362-8201.
10. Prizes
Trophies will be awarded for the top two places in each class. The trophy presentation will be held at the Lighthouse Landing deck on Sunday, about 90 minutes after the last race.
11. Insurance
Each participant boat shall be insured by its owner with valid third party liability insurance.
12. Lodging
Several motels and cottages are available in the area. For more information, check the Web site www.grandrivers.com.
